Privacy Policy

Last updated September 2026

Spire is an invite-only strength training tracker. This policy explains what the app stores, why it stores it, who can see it, and how to delete it. It is written to match what the app actually does.

Who we are

Spire is operated by Abhinav Vinnakota, an individual developer. For any privacy question or request, contact spireapp.support@gmail.com.

What we collect

Account. Your email address, handled by our authentication provider. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password. If you set a password it is stored only as a salted hash and is never visible to us. If you sign in with Apple and choose Hide My Email, we receive only Apple's relay address and never your real one. Signing in with Apple or Google tells them that you use Spire; it does not give us access to anything else in those accounts.

Profile. Display name, birth year, the sex setting used to select strength standards, your bodyweight, and preferences such as units, weekly target and logging mode.

Training data. The workouts and sets you log, including exercise, weight, reps and timestamps, plus the ranks and personal records derived from them.

Profile photo. Only if you choose to add one.

Invites. Which invite code you redeemed and who invited you, which is what forms your Circle.

We do not collect location, contacts, browsing activity, or device advertising identifiers.

Health and fitness data

Your bodyweight, workouts and sets are health and fitness information. We use them only to run the app: to calculate your rank, track progress, and show the comparisons you ask for. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.

Spire does not read from or write to Apple Health.

Who can see your data

Most of what you log is private to you. The exception is your Circle, which is limited to the person who invited you, the people you invited, and anyone you have connected with directly by exchanging connect codes. It never extends further: you cannot see the people your Circle members invited or connected with, and they cannot see yours.

A connect code only works for someone you have given it to. Nobody can add you by searching for your name or email address, because Spire has no member directory. You can replace your connect code at any time, which stops the old one working without affecting connections you have already made.

Members of your Circle can see your display name, profile photo, card number, your rank and muscle-group ranks, and the benchmark lifts behind those ranks. They cannot see your email address, birth year, full workout history, or lifts that are not selected benchmarks.

Your bodyweight is not displayed to other members. Because ranks are calculated relative to bodyweight, a determined person could estimate it from the figures shown, so extend Circle membership to people you trust.

You can remove anyone from your Circle at any time, including the person who invited you and people you invited. Removal is mutual and immediate: neither of you can see the other's rank, benchmarks, profile photo or highlights afterwards. It does not delete either account, and you can reverse it.

Anything you export yourself, such as a saved or shared Spire Card image, is yours to distribute and is no longer covered by this policy once you share it.

Service providers

We use Supabase for database, authentication and file storage, Google Cloud Vision to check profile photos before they are shown to anyone, and Vercel for web hosting. They process data on our behalf in order to run the service. We do not use analytics, crash-reporting or advertising services, and there are no third-party trackers in the app.

Tracking

Spire does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and does not use your data for advertising.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from the app, under Card settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, every workout and set, your rank history, your profile photo, and your invites. It cannot be undone.

People you invited keep their own accounts and data; they simply no longer show a connection to you. Backups are overwritten on their normal rotation.

To remove only your photo, use Card settings and remove it without deleting your account.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account it is removed immediately, apart from short-lived operational backups.

Your rights in California

If you live in California, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, request its deletion, and request correction of inaccurate information. You can exercise deletion yourself in the app at any time. For anything else, contact spireapp.support@gmail.com.

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Children

Spire is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact spireapp.support@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Database access is restricted per account at the database level, so one member cannot read another member's private data. Profile photos are kept in a private bucket and served over short-lived links limited to your Circle. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
